M.S. University of Idaho 1974

Professor Hall serves as Extension Agronomist - Crops for the corn, soybean, and spring small grain production areas of South Dakota. His extension duties encompass such management practices as variety or hybrid selection, seeding rates, seeding dates, crop row spacing, and the general growth and development of the crop. In addition, he serves as the project leader for the South Dakota Crop Performance Testing Program. This program tests about 100 small grain entries, including hard red wheat, durum wheat, barley, oats, and fall-seeded hard red winter wheat. Soybean varieties, both non-GMO and Roundup Ready, comprise the largest number of crops entries tested (700) followed by yellow dent corn hybrid entries (300). Presently, he is serving as chair of the North Central Crop Evaluation Committee. The goal of this committee is to maintain or change (as needed) the standards and methods for the testing and reporting of crop performance information among agricultural colleges in the North Central region.
