Sharon Clay
Ph.D University of Minnesota
1986 The weed science program is many
faceted. There are opportunities to conduct research in herbicide-soil interactions
to limit herbicide contamination of off-site areas and to understand the fate
of herbicides in the soil, vadose zone and aquifer. Understanding weed ecology
in crop and rangeland systems is also an important component of the program.
Nonchemical options for weed control including the use of crop rotation and
biological control techniques also are developing as important part of the weed
science program. Dr. Clay teaches the course, "Weed Science", that has a laboratory
section to develop understanding of weeds, herbicides, and their fate in the
environment. You can learn more about Dr. Clay's research and outreach programs
