Roy Scott
Ph.D. Kansas State University
1987 Dr. Scott specializes in soybean breeding and genetics. His breeding program is aimed at developing high-yielding group 0 through II varieties, which are adapted to the western and northern fringes of the US soybean production region. His research has a major focus on yield stability, protein and oil improvement, as well as biotic and abiotic stress tolerance. He also does agronomic and production research. Recent research areas have included evaluating strategies for developing high protein varieties, developing molecular approaches to determine fatty acid profiles, and evaluating effects of environment on soybean with modified protein and oil characteristics. In addition to his variety development responsibilities, Dr. Scott also teaches graduate plant breeding and scientific writing.
