


| Welcome. The Plant Science Department at South Dakota State University is comprised of faculty, staff and graduate students in the areas of Crop Science, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Soil/Water Science, and Weed Science. The department has a long history of providing quality teaching, research, extension and technical service programs to students and clientele throughout the state, region and nation The Department offers an undergraduate degree in Agronomy, with emphases in Business, Production or Science. Minors in Agronomy and Pest Management are also offered. The Department participates in the Biostress Center of Excellence program for undergraduates. The Department offers an M.S. degree in Plant Science, and Ph.D. degrees in Agronomy and Biological Sciences. Faculty offices and laboratories are located primarily in three buildings on campus: Agricultural Hall, the Northern Plains Biostress Laboratory and the Plant Science Building. Additionally, the Department has several greenhouse complexes, a seedhouse, and also hosts South Dakota Foundation Seed facilities on campus. Research and extension farms are located on or near campus, with others in the eastern and central parts of the state. Activities are also coordinated out of the West River Research and Extension Center in Rapid City. |
