Degree Matriculation

Students having earned a Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.Sc.) may apply for a Master of Science (M.S.) degree. Students having earned a Master of Science (M.S. of M.Sc.) degree may apply for a Master of Science (M.S.) degree or a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.

Application Deadlines

April 15 is the deadline for a September matriculation date, and August 15 is the deadline for a January matriculation date.

Minimum Criteria for Admission

Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale)*:
2.75 or above - unrestricted admission with an assistantship promise
2.5 - 2.75 - conditional admission with an assistantship promise
<2.5 - restricted admission under special non-degree seeking status
TOEFL Score - 560 or above
GRE - recommended but not required
* International students may have a different performance rating which will be approximated on a
4.0 scale by the SDSU Graduate School
