The SDSU Crop Quality Lab will involve acquisition of physical, chemical and functionality information on grains and oil seeds as well as processing of the raw materials into finished products.

Goal:  Provide quality information on the end-use traits of SD cash crops and enhance the economic value of the commodity crop. Continuous monitoring of baseline composition of current varieties will allow for assessment of variety and environment effects and for problem-solving efforts needed to address in processing technologies.

Quality evaluations are based on standardized procedures and used by wheat breeders for production of lines useful to the food industry.
