How does undergraduate research prepare Plant Science Graduates?
· Curriculum: Independent study (PS 491), Special Topics/Problems (PS 492/493) and Undergraduate Research Scholarship (PS498)
· A Griffith Award program is available in which an undergraduate can write a proposal for funding a specific research topic in the Ag/Bio College.
· Joseph F. Nelson Undergraduate Research Mentorship Award is available for summer projects at the University level.
· Students interact with several different Plant Science faculty mentors and complete projects in molecular biology, soils, mine reclamation, weed science, and soil fertility. These projects include hands-on greenhouse/growth chamber studies, laboratory and field experiments, and writing review papers on specific, agreed-upon topics.
