Insects and related arthropods are an important component of the South Dakota environment and can limit production of corn, soybean, wheat, sunflower, alfalfa. Insects can also impact livestock production, real estate, home gardening, trees, turf, commercial fruits and vegetables, and human health. A strong soybean IPM program with excellent regional and nation ties addresses stresses multiple tactics, minimal input costs, and maximizes sustainability.
