Dr. Gu’s research program has been focused on genetic variation of plant adaptation and its agricultural applications, with particular emphases on seed dormancy and photoperiod sensitivity. Dr. Gu is leading a seed molecular biology laboratory working with the seed dormancy, pre-harvest sprouting, and their interrelated characteristics in rice and wheat using quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis, map-based cloning, and comparative genomics approaches.
