David Aaron is an assistant professor of Physics at SDSU. He is actively teaching within the physics department and is deeply immersed in the vicarious optical calibration of satellites (both NASA and commercial platforms) and in the associated atmospheric modeling. In conjunction with Dennis Helder and other staff of the Electrical Engineering department along with numerous graduate and undergraduate students, David spends his summers fielding the 'blue tarp crew' which goes out and collects ground data (directly from fields and from large calibrated 'blue tarp; targets) which is then correlated with simultaneous satellite imagery.
David is a native South Dakotan, who received his BS in Engineering Physics from SDSU, advanced degrees from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has worked in industrial positions ranging from electrical engineering to very high power laser development. However, when he started having children, he returned to SD since there is no better place than SD to raise small children.
