Soybeans
Seed Certification Standards
(In Addition to the General Standards Listed on the Standard's
Home Page)
I. Land Requirements
Soybeans to be eligible for certification must be preceded by some crop other than
soybeans unless Certified seed of the same variety was planted.
II. Field Inspections
Fields producing Foundation seed shall be inspected at flowering and a second inspection
when the crop is approaching maturity when pod and pubescence color and other plant
characteristics can be determined. Fields producing Certified seed shall be inspected at
least once when the crop is approaching maturity, preferably after the leaves have
dropped.
III. Isolation
Distance adequate to prevent mechanical mixture is necessary (five feet).
