Our Research in this Disease.
We have several research projects in this pathosystem. They are funded, in part, by the U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative.
- The program has been a long-time collaborator in a multi-state effort to develop and refine disease forecasting models for spring and winter wheat to be used in risk-advisory systems. The current web-based advisory system provides coverage for producers in 25 states (U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative Risk Assessment Tool). In 2007, South Dakota producers were some of the most active on this site.
- We are also leading a similar effort in malting barley with collaborators in the SDSU Extension Agronomy Program-Crop Performance Testing program, and individuals at North Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota.
