Nitrogen recommendation = 2.2YG - STN - LC
Bray-1 P recommendation = (1.32 - 0.066 STP)YG
Olsen P recommendation = (1.32 - 0.083 STP)YG
Potassium recommendation = (1.86 - 0.0116 STK)YG

Buckwheat Statements:

  1. When P2O5 is recommended:  The P2O5 recommendation can be reduced by one third if applying as a starter.  If reduced by one third, soil test levels may be lowered over time.
  2. When nitrogen is recommended: Because of your very reduced or no tillage system, 30 lb/a of additional nitrogen has been considered in the above N recommendation.

  3. When nitrogen and /or potassium are recommended: Nitrogen plus K2O applications in contact with the seed should not exceed 10 lbs/a in six or seven inch rows.  Nitrogen from urea, DAP (18-46-0), and ammonium thiosulfate (21-0-0-26)  should NOT be placed with the seed.
