The Soil Testing Laboratory is located in Agricultural Hall on the SDSU Campus. Check out the SDSU Map for more information - Ag Hall is building #4 (somewhat to the left center of the map). To get to the lab, enter Ag Hall through the North doors and walk straight ahead - we're located on the basement floor - room 07.

Sampling Suggestions
  1. Make sure the sample is representative of the area so analysis and recommendations are meaningful.
  2. In general, take 15 to 20 cores per field for a soil sample.  Refer to detailed soil sampling instructions on the sample information sheet available from county Extension offices or the Soil Testing Laboratory.
  3. For plant samples, sample 25 to 30 plants throughout the sampling area.  For specific sampling instructions, contact your county Extension office or on this website.
  4. Wet soil samples and fresh plant tissue should be air-dried before sending.
  5. Soil samples for fertility analysis require 3 to 5 working days before recommendations are sent out.  Plant samples require 5 to 10 working days.
  6. This laboratory does not do pesticide residues nor fertilizer analysis.  These materials should be sent to: Oscar E. Olson, Biochemistry Labs

Includes Regular Series and Chloride.
