Broadleaf Plantain

Life cycle: Perennial

Leaves: Rosettes of wide oval leaves, upright or spread out, all starting at the base.

Stems: Lacking an above ground stem.

Flowers: Long slender, spike.

Roots: Fibrous

Comments: Commonly found near sidewalks or other areas where soil is compacted.

Control

Cultural: Aerate compacted soil

Foliar Herbicides: Products that contain 2,4-D and dicamba (Weed-B-Gone Max, Trimec, WeedStop, and others), carfentrazone (QuickSilver), triclopyr (Turflon), or fluroxypyr (Spotlight).

Soil Herbicides: May use isoxaben (Gallery or Portrait)
