Life cycle: Local noxious. Biennial.
Leaves: Alternate, rough. Basal leaves broad, 12 inches long. Upper leaves narrow, clasping.
Stems: 1 to 4 feet tall.
Flowers: Reddish purple. Fruit divides into four nutlets that cling to livestock and clothing.
Roots: Heavy taproot. Forms rosette the first year.
Weed Species: local noxious weed
Comments: Poisonous plant to livestock. Damages liver.
