Prostrate Spurge

Life cycle: Annual

Leaves: Small oval leaves; some have spots

Stems: Milky sap

Flowers: Green, sometimes pinkish

Roots: Shallow taproot

Comments: Emerges in hot weather. Forms flat mat. May be found in compacted soil.

Control

Cultural: Aerate compacted soils

Foliar Herbicides: Products that contain 2,4-D and dicamba (Weed-B-Gone Max, Trimec, WeedStop, and others), triclopyr (Turflon), or metsulfuron (Manor).

Soil Herbicides: Many soil applied herbicides for crabgrass, such as pendimethalin (Pendulum) or dithiopyr (Dimension Ultra). For landscapes, may use isoxaben (Gallery or Portrait).
