| Former mining road in the open pit gold mine in Lead operated by the Homestake Mining Company which has recently been closed in 2001. Tertiary age rhyollite intrusions are the lighter colored bands tilting at a steep angle (center). Pre-Cambrian age schist is the darker matrix rock. The mine been chosen as the site for a new National Physics Laboratory. |
